Magical photos reveal Amsterdam by night
Amsterdam Magic Night is a photography project by Italy-born, Amsterdam-smitten photographer Matteo Fiorentini.
Born in Trieste, Italy, Matteo’s colourful career has so far seen him study to be both an expert shipbuilder and interior designer. After living three years in Valencia, he moved to Amsterdam, where he has begun documenting the city late at night using long exposure to give his images an ethereal quality.
Matteo explains: “This city has something magical about it. One of my favourite times to cycle around it with my Canon550d is at night when almost everyone is asleep, because it’s so calm and colourful. Using long exposure techniques I am trying to show that in one way or another Amsterdam is always smiling at you.
“Since last year I started to realise that existence is not flat, but rather a combination of short detailed scenes that people shouldn’t miss. I feel fortunate to live in a city that constantly inspires to me to expand on my craft in ways that bring me great joy.”
