Amsterdam Weekend Guide – June 2-4
The long weekend is (almost) here, and we plan to make the most of every last moment of it. This weekend in Amsterdam we’ll be dancing until the sun comes up, indulging our inner food critics and celebrating all that’s great about sneakers.
De Zon Festival
Here’s hoping for another scorching hot weekend. Sun seekers from around the city will flock to the beachy haven of Blijburg aan Zee for De Zon Festival – one of the first of many summer festivals to come. A house and techno line-up play across three stages at the atmospheric urban beach in the eastern part of IJburg. Be quick to snap up the last remaining tickets.
Taste of Amsterdam
A highlight of the Amsterdam foodie’s calendar, Taste of Amsterdam returns to Amstelpark with stall upon stall of mouthwatering delights. Mini kitchens from the city’s best restaurants pop up all over the park, so you can sample creations from the likes of Ron Blaauw, Peter Lute and Jonnie Boer for just a fraction of the price à la carte. You can also sharpen your culinary skills with cooking demonstrations and tastings, and of course, premium wines and cocktails.

Midnight Music Run
If you’re looking to shake up your weekend workout, (or feel the need to burn off one too many Taste of Amsterdam treats), join the London Midnight Runners on their special trip to Amsterdam. This late night boot camp is a 10km run set to pumping music, all taking place under the stars. The run is interspersed with fun group exercises, and finishes in a party at the Volkshotel. We suggest you wear your most glamorous activewear.
Werkplaats Good Music Vinyl Market
Complete your vinyl collection (or start one) at this market dedicated to vinyl music at Werkplaats bar at Amsterdam’s Volkshotel. Find hidden gems in your favourite genres among the vast record collections. Strictly-vinyl DJs provide the entertainment and the drinks will be flowing making for a perfectly lazy Sunday afternoon.
Proving once again that Amsterdam is serious about sneakers, the largest sneaker event in Europe sets up shop at the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam Noord this weekend. Browse the latest footwear collections from international brands, including rare and vintage styles. Among the excitement, Footlocker EU hosts a series of sneaker-themed talks and invite you into their 360° SNEAKER SELFIE MACHINE to take that Instagram picture you didn’t know you needed.
